Consulting

Dictionary.com defines consulting as, “The providing of expert knowledge to a third party for a fee.” Consulting is most often used when a company needs an outside, expert opinion regarding a business decision.

Consulting.com defines consulting as, “The business of providing expert advice to a specific group of people.”

According to Stephanie Lam of Deloitte, “Consulting is the process of helping clients solve their most pressing business problems or issues.  Consultants are enablers. They work across a wide range of roles, industries, and geographies to apply their methods of analyzing information, and to identify a new, positive way forward for their clients.”

Summing up, we could say that consulting is providing expert advice to a specific group of people to solve their business problems or issues.

Why do organisations require consulting?

  1. In-house talent and expertise might not be available to solve the issues. So, the organisation has to look towards outside consultants.
  2. The word is changing at a very fast pace. To cope up, to be proactive and to be ahead of competitors, the organisations hire consultants.
  3. Consultants give honest and unbiased information and guidance which is very critical to make correct decisions.
  4. To facilitate the search for ideas and solutions with existing team members. (leeiwan.wordpress.com)
